Cap Optimist 2022: The Monaco- Athens Crossing on Paddle board, for a good cause!

Piraeus, June 19, 2022.  With a great deal of emotion, enthusiasm and by transmitting a strong message, the “Cap Optimist 2022″ charitable expedition was completed. The team of the six daring athletes from France who, have been paddling on a paddle board for 14 days and nights, successfully passed the finish line in Piraeus where they were welcomed and congratulated by the Mayor of Piraeus Mr. Moralis with the Philharmonic orchestra of the municipality, in the presence of family members, friends, sponsors and fans. Departing from the Yacht Club of Monaco, on June 5, the athletes successfully covered 1,800 kilometers at sea, rowing continuously and non-stop, and facing the dangers of the open seas as well as the extreme weather conditions.

The Cap Optimist expedition has a charitable nature. All the funds raised by sponsors, friends and supporters are offered for the benefit of the “ELPIDA Association of Friends of Children with Cancer” as well as the Foundation Princess Charlene of Monaco.

The Cap Optimist expedition also sends a strong message that through sports we have the strength and determination to set goals in life, to be able to overcome the difficulties we face.

The arrival of the 6 waterwomen at Piraeus, was followed by a festive Cocktail Party organized at the Yacht Club of Greece, to celebrate the successful completion of the expedition. The leader of the Cap Optimist, Ms. Stephanie Barneix, warmly thanked all those who participated in the successful organization and implementation of the project and especially:

Mr. Yianni Plakiotaki, Minister of Maritime Affairs for the great help provided from the very beginning.

The Hellenic Coast Guard for the support given to make easier and safer their stay in the Greek seas.
